Major Experiences of the Coindre Leadership Program

The Coindre Leadership Program includes a series of essential experiences de-signed to deepen the participant’s understanding of the charism and to incorporate its themes into his or her life.  These experiences reinforce the three major themes of the components:  spirituality, community and apostolate.

The major experiences of the CLP are…

1. SPIRITUALITY EXPERIENCE

ATTENDING A COMMUNITY RETREAT

This experience is designed to help deepen each participant’s personal prayer life and commitment to live out of a spirituality of the Heart of Christ.  This experi-ence assists each participant in identifying more strongly with the community of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart by praying, reflecting and sharing with members of the Institute and lay colleagues.

This retreat is a minimum of five days, and in cases where a community retreat is not available, a retreat in the Ignatian tradition is recommended.

2. INSTITUTE HISTORY and COMMUNITY EXPERIENCE

CENTRE INTERNATIONAL ANDRÉ COINDRE (CIAC) – Lyon, France

This experience, held at the home of the Founder, helps participants become im-mersed in the grace of the founding moments of the Institute.  It seeks to trans-form a written history into a lived reality.  Participants will spend time in prayer, reflection, pilgrimage, and discussion of our early foundations to better translate the charism into modern actions and language.  The current program consists of 17 days in Lyons walking in the footsteps of the Founder.

3. MISSION AND APOSTOLATE EXPERIENCES

A. INTERNATIONAL SESSION IN ROME

This experience is envisioned to expose the participant to an international experi-ence of the Institute and the Church.  Elements of this program would include spirituality, community, mission, apostolate, and pilgrimage in an atmosphere of prayer and reflection.  This program lasts approximately two weeks.

B. LEADERSHIP ASSEMBLY

This experience is designed to introduce the participant to the diversity of the ex-pressions of the charism throughout the United States and England.  The Tri-Province School Leadership Conference determines the focus of these assemblies.  These assemblies take place in an atmosphere of mutual sharing and support and occur over a three to four day period.

C. APOSTOLIC EXPERIENCE IN THE INSTITUTE IN A CULTURALLY DIFFERENT MILIEU

This experience seeks to broaden the participant’s understanding of the diverse expressions of the charism in the educational ministry of the Brothers of the Sa-cred Heart.  While such an experience may be found in another province school, in a neighboring province, or in another sector of the Institute, the focus of this ministerial experience is the encounter with an alternative, authentic, institutional expression of the charism.  This experience should last a minimum of one week and will be coordinated with the participant’s mentor and school authorities of both entities.
